Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces past and present.

Veterans Day was first observed in 1919, marking the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Originally called Armistice Day, it became a national holiday in 1938 and was renamed Veterans Day in 1954 to honor all who served in peace and in war.

From the beaches of Normandy to the mountains of Afghanistan, our veterans have defended freedom, upheld justice, and shown unmatched courage and sacrifice.

At Heber Springs Schools, we are grateful for every veteran including the many heroes in our Panther community who have worn the uniform of our nation.

Thank you for your service.
Thank you for your sacrifice.
We honor you today and every day.

Heber Springs Schools Has Something to Celebrate! Our students, teachers, and staff have achieved something amazing, and we’re proud to share the results!

For the first time ever, the state has assigned letter grades to districts based on accountability data from grades 3–10 and graduation rates.
Heber Springs has officially been rated an “A” District!
We are one of only 22 districts in the entire state to earn this top rating!

Heber Springs Elementary will receive $31,158 in state reward money for being in the top 6–10% for growth, and

Heber Springs High School will receive $22,487 for ranking in the top 6–10% for performance!

This accomplishment is a direct reflection of the passion, dedication, and excellence that our students and staff bring to our classrooms every single day.

Thank you to our entire Heber Springs community for believing in our students and supporting our schools. Together, we are an A-rated district — and we’re just getting started!

Dear Parents & Guardians,

Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, all Arkansas schools must follow a new state law, Act 122, also known as the:

“Bell to Bell, No Cell” Law

This law prohibits students from using or carrying personal electronic devices (like cell phones, smartwatches, earbuds, etc.) during the entire school day — from the first bell to the last bell.

📚 What This Means for Students:

• Devices must be powered off during the school day
• Devices cannot be on their person
• Students may not use phones to check out for lunch
• Students may use the school phone in case of emergency
• Students with a health care plan requiring a device are exempt

💡 Why This Change?

The goal of this law is to reduce distractions, improve student focus, and help create a better learning environment for all students.

We have also made some changes in lunch procedures:

• Parents may still bring lunch to their student
• The office will no longer accept food deliveries from restaurants, Door
Dash, etc.
• Students may not use phones or other technology to arrange food drop-
offs

We appreciate your support as we work together to make our schools stronger and more focused.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

Thanks for partnering with us

Eva Orr from Heber Springs High School Elected as National President at National Leadership Conference July 5–9

Orlando, Florida – July 2025 — Eva Orr from Heber Springs High School was one of ten national officers elected to serve on the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America’s (FCCLA) National Executive Council at the National Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida. Eva, daughter of Morris and Heather Orr, was elected to serve as FCCLA’s National President for the 2025–2026 year.

The 2025 National Leadership Conference had record-breaking attendance with more than 10,000 attendees present. Twenty-seven National Officer Candidates took part in the National Executive Council election process, undergoing intense interviews, completing an FCCLA knowledge test, and presenting a prepared speech on-stage during the five-day conference.

As National President, Eva will lead the National Executive Council alongside nine other elected officers. She will travel to FCCLA National Headquarters in Herndon, Virginia for a planning meeting to prepare for the year. The team will develop the organization’s Program of Work, set future goals, and plan national initiatives. Throughout the year, Eva will also assist in planning the focus and content of FCCLA’s 2026 National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., scheduled for July 6–10, 2026.

“I am beyond proud of Eva and the tremendous leadership she has shown. Being elected as National President is the highest honor in FCCLA, and it could not have gone to a more deserving student,” said Mrs. Cantrell, Eva’s National Executive Council Adviser. “She leads with confidence, compassion, and vision, and I can’t wait to see all she accomplishes this year.”

The highest leadership honor a FCCLA member can achieve is being elected to serve on the National Executive Council. FCCLA continues to empower students by developing employability skills and addressing youth issues such as career preparation, financial literacy, environmental education, traffic safety, community service, and leadership development.

About FCCLA
Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a dynamic and effective national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.

FCCLA: The Ultimate Leadership Experience is unique among youth organizations because its programs are planned and run by members, and it’s the only career and technical in-school student organization with a central focus on careers that support families. Participation in national FCCLA programs and chapter activities helps members become strong leaders in their families, careers, and communities.
